I'm a bridesmaid for my dad's wedding on staurday

I have a floor length pink dress (picture included) for the service and the meal. http://www.flickr.com/photos/29225644@N02/2732215316/

I then plan to change into a shorter dress for the evening reception which is just a disco and finger food. Its not goign to be posh just family and friends and a good old knees up.

My dad and his soon to be have okayed this.

But im just wondering about the dress i have chosen.

Take a look and let me know please

  1. Wow its just a little too short for me but if your dad has already approved it then I would say go for it.

  2. You didn't say your age, which is a factor for the second dress. Anyway, since the wedding is Saturday, it's too late to change.

  3. The second dress look waaaaaaaaay too short. If you raise your arms to hug someone your cheeks will show!!! Yikes!!! Maybe something a bit longer...

  4. The second one is not okay. It looks like a drunk girl at her junior prom. And that strap above the ancles on your shoes- its so thick, it just makes your legs look wide, because it pretty much creates a stump. And the dress isn't quite flattering, either. Bad choice.

  5. I think both are fabulous.  If you can wear a dress that short then go for it!!! It is short, but it is by no means tacky-short.

    Have fun!!

  6. first one nice, but second to short.

  7. I find it a bit short for a wedding reception.

  8. It's very cute but it may be a little too short.

  9. yeah i agree with the person above. it is a cute dress, but i would tone it down with black heels instead of the pink. but i have never been much of a shoe person, thats just what i would do. if you love 'em, wear 'em!

    have fun!

  10. No, not the second. Don't change! You'll only get that one chance to wear the BM dress, and it's pretty!

If you really, really want another dress, some ideas -

  11. They look cute but a little uncomfortable.  The first one seems more like a bridesmaid's gown.  The second one is great as long as you don't bend over or sit down.

  12. I think the dress is fine. Especially if you're part of the wedding party.

  13. It's too short but the way to make it look more classy is to trade in the heels for a more conservative black shoe. The big ankle strap on the pink ones isn't flattering on you either.

  14. It's a little bit on the short side and the shoes are a little much.  But the style of the dress works.

  15. I LOVE BOTH DRESS they are very cute

  16. a little short to me and the bottom really isnt my style but i love the top half. have fun at the wedding! :)

  17. I don't like either personally speaking.  The first looks like a prom dress or looks like you should be part of the wedding party BUT with the right accessories, you can pull it off.  I wouldn't spend the money on getting another dress but make sure you add the right accessories to glam it up a bit.

The second is too short, although fabulous.  And to be honest, if the second wasn't as short as it is, I would just go with that one to the ceremony because it looks a lot more dressy than the first one.  It's a great dress though.

Edit--OOOOHHHH OK well then good =) I must have completely missed the first half.  My bad

  18. I like the bridesmaid dress, but I'm not wild about the second dress. I think it's just a little too short.

But, if I were you I'd ask the one person who's opinion will count above all others...your dad! If he's okay with it, then go ahead and wear it.

  19. The first one is really lovely and very bridesmaid-appropriate.

The second one unfortunately is not appropriate at all. Sorry hun, but I really don't think ppl are misinterpreting at all. I have really long legs myself and if a dress hem is that many inches above your knee like that, it only ends up looking sleazy at a wedding.

I actually just went to a wedding last weekend, it wasn't super formal but was still a nice wedding. A few girls showed up in dresses such as that and I hate to say it but ppl were staring at them the whole night, eyebrows raised. And they weren't complimentary stares! The point is not to call any attention to yourself, it is the brides day. That doesn't mean you have to look terrible, but a nice cocktail dress to the knees can look very s**y AND appropriate. Remember that a wedding is NOT a disco and you should not dress the same for both.

I say wear the bridesmaid dress the whole evening, why look like just one of the other guests when you can be a part of the wedding party!
