I need a rotary drill for work and was looking at the Bosch. Read some good reviews about this tool and this guy seems to like the drill http://www.professional-power-tool-guide.com/Bosch-Power-Tool-Rotary-Drill.htm

My question has anyone had any experience with this drill. It is expensive, so I don't want to just jump in buy it , if it is no good.

  1. when I need a tool to be powerfull and well designed, i go with a bosch.  if you're going to use it for one day, then get something disposable, but if you're going to rely on it often, go with the bosch.  Not cheap, but they kick butt.

  2. It is a little pricey because it is a Bosch. It is well worth the money spent. I have bought alot of different styles of cordless drills and finally found my calling when buying a bosch. Everything I own tool wise now is Bosch. I stand by there tools and name. I dropped my cordless drill a couple months ago off of a 2 story house. Slide off the roof and hit the porch roof and then the driveway I thoguht for sure it was a done deal. As soon as I got down to it and picked it up all that was wronge with it was a couple scrapes and scratch's. Bosch is a good tool to have if you work with it everyday. Good luck

  3. i would shop around if i was you.go to home depot and get some expert advice.they have alot to choose from and they can give you the best price and the best make.

  4. I'd shop around too, & keep in mind that when you buy a tool from places like home depot they aren't made to the same specs as the same more expensive tool in a hardware store.

Don't get me wrong, I get tools at stupid places all the time, but I look at them as fairly disposable.

  5. I'll second that endorsement by the other guy on Bosch being a good value.  I worked as a construction electrician for 7 years and used and owned every make of drill known to mankind, from Black & Decker (junk!) through industrial brands like Hilti.  I used them for drilling literally thousands of holes in wood, concrete and thick gauge steel using plain, auger, masonry and hole saw bits.   I used the predecessor to that Bosch model you like and it drilled 3/8 inch holes in high-compression concrete like it was Velveeta cheese.  The SDS bits are great -- no chuck slippage and they last forever.

For a hammer drill you can't go wrong with Bosch for torque, speed, durability and functional design/ease of use.  Dewalt is a close second if you can't afford Bosch (but thjey won't hold up as well).  Instead of buying from a big box home store, try to find a construction supply house that stocks tools.  You'll get the best price and the best selection.
