I am now in the 12th grade and I have about a 3.6 gpa non weighted and a 3.75 weighted. I have taken all honors courses my entire life and took an AP freshman year and 5 APs junior year. I got a C in calc AB and Bs in the rest of the APs. Im taking 3 APs this year. I got a 1900 on the SAT. 680-math 640-reading 580-writing 10-essay (I'm terrible at the word choice stuff). I also got a 640 on Math2 SAT2 and a 650 on BIO E SAT2. Unfortunatly I'm lacking in the community service/ extracurricular. Is this enough to get into UCSB or UCLA?

  1. ya

  2. your SAT scores are great =)

the problem is your GPA. When my friends and I applied to UCLA and such, we noticed that those who had a 4.1 or higher got in regardless of their SAT scores.

For example, I took almost all AP and honors classes, but got Bs in them...and had 4 Cs in my overall record. My friend who didnt take any APs in sophomore year but got straight As got into UCLA, and I didnt.

Also, its totally true when they say 10th and 11th grade count the most for UCs.

I took all APs my senior year, got straight As, and got rejected by UCLA and UCSB. (but my SAT scored were bad...so no worries for you)

my advice to you is to calculate your 10th and 11th grade GPA, and write great application essays...those count too.

I think you have a great shot at UCSB, I'm not so sure about UCLA, cause it's so d**n competitive.

oh, and take up a few extracurricular activities if you dont have any.

    Best of luck =)

  3. You have good chances at UCSB, but very low chances at UCLA.
