i think that does mean like 2011. so it should be alright but open it and see if it smells ok first!

its either 1st Aug 2011

or 8th jan 2011 depending on whether you are in the states or uk

either way its the year 2011 and in plenty of date, cans/tins have a very long shelf life

you are good to eat this

Open it up and check, if you see it doesn't look or smell  quite right then chuck it out!
