Question:

Is this genetics?

i notice that i have many character traits that are similar to the german culture. my mother is of germany decent, but she never been there, and i was born in america and know nothing about germany. but i took a trip there, and i notice they do things like i do. like being punctual, its hard to explain, but i can follow their train of thought easily. is this common:?

  1. It's not coming from genetics, directly...but indirectly in that we learn our culture and behavior from our parents.  You've learned things from your mother, she learned things from her mother, and so on, back to your German ancestors.

    If your ancestors were particularly proud of their heritage, they may have stressed certain characteristics, but since you guys have probably been away from Germany for a few generations, there has no doubt been divergence, but it's not surprising that many still remain.


  2. you cant really generalize, im sure there are lots of unpunctual germans. its just that you share similiar personality traits with some germans.

  3. I think its easy for people that have it in their blood.I also have german family and i am the same.Evan though we have just visited Germany ,we still are like them because its in your genes.Your quite right when tou say that.Goodluck x

  4. Cultural traits are not genetic.  

    You are simply make more out of coincidences than actually exist.  Its great that you feel your personality meshes well with the German culture, but nothing about that is hereditary.
