Question:

Is this going to affect the chances of me getting this job

I applied at Kohl's today and my sister decided she wanted to apply too. We're both 16 and twins. We both applied at the exact same time and turned it in and the exact same time. I was so mad when she wanted to apply too the same job because I respected her when she wanted to apply at PET EXPRESS. We kinda argued in front of the woman who gave us the application -- I think she saw when I tried to get the application from her and I hope that the cameras didn't see that! I was just so angry and I know I acted immaturely -- what do I do? Do you think that's going to affect the chances of me getting the job? I feel bad -- I don't think she saw when I tried to grab it from her but she did TURN AROUND when my sister made a noise because I tried to take it from her.

  1. First off, you have to be 17 to work for Kohl's. Secondly, That was really immature of you. You should have just told your sister your feelings outside the store instead of in front of customer service because they may have been a manager or supervisor you could've had to interview with.

  2. Depending on what part of the hiring decision the woman you were both behaving badly in front of has... Unfortunately, you have to behave as though you are always being watched.  I understand you were angry with your sister but someone has to be the mature one.

  3. Well for one, I don't know why it upset you so much - how would you know how many openings they had? Maybe they had more that one? Would you have tried to rip a resume out of a complete stranger's hand because they were applying too?

So yes, this might hurt your chances if she passed on the information about both of your behavior to the hiring manager. Cross your fingers that she forgot or didn't care enough to tell anyone. In the future, remember to be respectful and well behaved to EVERYONE when you're looking for a job - I've worked in HR and the recruiters would ask the receptionists and even the security guard about their impressions of candidates.

I hope you job search goes well!

  4. YEs,

not good to act that way in fron o f a prosective empoyer.

also, Kohls does not hire anyone under 17.

I just had an interview there about 10 days ago, they do group interviews.
