Is this going to be WW3? Russia and Georgia?

Hi my parents and friend are saying this is going ot be WW3! If Russia and Georgia don't stop now this could lead to WW3! Georgia is seen as an allie of the west. The British Prime minister Gordon Brown has been on the phone all day to the Georgia's President and Russia aren't listening to what the west are saying! Britain are not able to fight a war as Russia supply her with all the gas and oil so if this does come into conflict with the west Britain will be destroyed instantly as Russia supply her with all her resorces! Think the MOD!

Whats your opinion?

  2. Most fortunate people in western countries do not realize what damage they have done to the rest of the world in their greed. Mid east, Africa, Asia, and they now feel they have the oppertunity to do the same in east Europe. It is said communism was like slavery, but "a man's blood were worth something in the days of slavery", even if it was only for the price his master paid for him, he would recieved his food. Of course western allies will choose corrupt criminals like the president of Georgia, they have even forsaken their God for greed. They must offer the capitalist American dream to those poorest east European people to believe they fight for their freedom, it gives them hope. But like the rest of the poor majority, they will soon know their new master is far greater than hope,-- the most terrible, the most imperious of masters, that is, NEED, and that makes ww3 the only outcome for the majority. I can not say this will start ww3, but I can say, east Europe was untill now the last obsticle for ww3.

  3. Georgia stiked the south ossetian region and russia defend south ossetia. South ossetia wants indepence just like kosovo wanted indepence. It is the same thing that happened with the US and kosovo. Continuing on to my point, Georgia knew that russia was going to defend ossetia but they attacked anyway. Russia had troops built up on the border. Georgia is trying to start ww3 by assuming the Us will get into the conflict as well. They attack ossetia because they assumed the US would help, simply because russia is the "enemy". The is the first time sense ww2 that russia has been right in declaring war.

  4. I'm kind of worried about this scenerio aswell. And I personally don't find it to be an immature question at all.

If NATO peacekeepers are sent into Georgia, Russia would most likely fire on them. Russia does not seem to take kindly to other nations intervening in their operations. If Russia fired on NATO peacekeepers then that would most likely cause a global conflict.

    Breaking it down:

-As it stands right now Georgia is already pleading for western intervention.

-They are also claiming that some Russian official (I do not know who) used the word "annihilation" to describe what they were doing to Georgia (this is what the Georgian president just said on CNN around 12:20pm 08/09/08)... or something to that end.

-Georgia is being attacked on many different fronts now. And Russia is now extending its support to other small ex Soviet nations that have also begun attacking Georgia.

-Georgia is strategic to the USA because of the pipelines.

-Georgia is "backed" by the US and other western nations.

-The rapid escelation is also worrying (ie how fast its escelated... 2 days).

-Georgia has (apparently) offered a ceasefire, Russia is not listening.

-International community has called for a ceasefire, Russia is not listening.

    So as I see it:

Without NATO intervention it will be annihilated, retaken by Russia, or severely crippled, if not by Russia then by some other ex-Soviet nation with Russian support.

But if NATO and/or the USA and allies do intervene in any "forcible" way (ie "peacekeepers"), we are liable to cause a global conflict. (ie ww3, ie eventually Russia and her allies vs The USA and/or NATO plus or minus other allied western nations).

That's just my take on it all.

  5. All what I can say is that we, Bolsheviks, love crisis.

Foreclosures, layoffs, bankruptcies, bank runs, inflation,... What else can we wish?

Btw, USA is epicenter of the world crisis.Another sign of the agony of Capitalism.

  6. Actually, this could in fact start ww3. Someone I talked online has the inside knowledge of whats coming. He told me that these events would take place. He also said to me that America will attack Iran on August 13th of 2008 which is like 4 days from now. And he also said there will be an attack at the olympics on that same day. This is all part of the New world Order plan, to create 1 government. Very soon, an impending collapse of the US economy will occur late 2008. Once that happens, the North American Union will be formed along with the Amero. Remember Russia, Iran, and China are allies, so America may use this event as an excuse to attack Iran. Also, Georgia has a gas pipeline that travels through the country, it gives US 1 million barrels a day. So, ya, this may just be the beginning of whats coming.

  7. NATO has already assured Russia it will not get involved in the conflict. Georgia's President has called for a ceasfire because he believes the Gorgian invasion of ex-soviet state South Ossetia was successful.

Georgia invasion of South Ossetia was the first strike, killing 2000 (woman and children) as well as Russian peacekeepers. Russia will agree to the ceasfire once the invaders have left South Ossetia

  8. And do you though know from after what did all begin? Do you know that Georgia bombed out cities and sely osetii? about thousands of lost is there an ossetic? It only for one day, and that would be if a week was given them? then ossetic did not remain in general, for this reason and entered troops, der'mokraty khrenovy

  9. No, no WW3. This will blow over. But the West will be poorer for it.

  10. No, because both countries know that nobody would win in a world war.

  11. RUSSIA GEORGIA WW3:

The following is just a perception of someone who prefers peace over war.

UPDATE Aug 11/08 -- Russia's irresponsible counterstrike may lead us to all out War.  They have clearly violated international law by annexing the separatist provinces on flimsy pretenses.  What Russia has done, attacking and blockading OUTSIDE the PEACEKEEPER zone of influence is a clear irresponsible aggression, and will probably lead to a response from the West that would cause a major problem.  RUSSIA, STOP NOW.   Or else you may find your self in Georgia's shoes, along with the rest of the World.

    Original post Aug 10/08

There is more to this conflict than meets the eye.  WW3 right now, NOT.  If it escalates, who knows?

Peacekeepers don't attack.  Russia keep broadening the scope of their actions outside the conflict area.  That action disqualifies them as peacekeepers and belittles their arguments.

At stake is the influence of Russia, and the West over old soviet republics.

Russia lost Kosovo early this year, and are very upset about it.  Since then, they have pushed to get this conflict going because it serves multiple interests.

    Russia:

    Pros:

    1) By broadening their attacks outside the conflict zone, they can disrupt oil flow to Europe.  And cause the West a real economic nightmare by increasing the price of Oil and Gas that's currently in freefall to 80USD/bbl.

    2) By stomping on Georgia, it lets them know they have to follow Russia's will and power.

    3) They get to train there military for a real conflict and test how good their equipment stands against that of the West.  Casualties will show this.

    4) Sends a signal to Europe that they will not allow old eastern block countries to join NATO or else face the consequences. (Czechoslovakia?).

    5) Lets the World know that they really don't care what they think, they will do what they want, to reassert the World hegemony.

    6) Scares every little country that's their neighbor about siding with the West and the consequences (look at the other conflict areas, they got obliterated).

    Cons:

    1) Some cost for the military actions

    2) Minor refugee problem.

    Georgia:

    Pros:

    1) Reestablish sovereignty on a sparely populated area.

    2) Gain political power locally.

    Cons:

    1) Loss of life of its citizens. (done)

    2) Loss of infrastructure (done)

    3) Major humanitarian crisis (in process)

    4) Loose all disputed territories (done).

    5) Major political, military and economic defeat (in process)

    West:

    Pros:

    1) If Georgia succeeded.  Russia would be a lame duck, didn't happen.

    2) Would gain control of the new corridor for new energy into Europe, by passing Russia.

    3) Would show other new pro western countries, that it pays to side with them. (this is a big one).

    4) Solve a small problem regarding living up to commitments of the past with Russia and the NATO request by Georgia.

    5) Gain credibility and need for a new missile defense system, in Eastern Europe.

    Cons:

    1) Loose the main pro western country

    2) Loose all credibility short term regarding supporting change for new democracies.

    3) Some economic impact due to energy prices.  Though prices are falling, timing couldn't have been better.

If Georgia started this, having the most to loose.  It has been a very foolish move.  Their president is hyper and may have miscalculated the consequences of his actions.

The West stands to gain in the long run, no matter what the outcome, so it won't intervene militarily. It gains a bargaining chip against Russia, re asserts Kosovo's independence and  can pressure Russia diplomatically into pushing Middle East agenda's.

Clearly Russia has a lot to gain here too, and most likely has been brewing this up over a long period of time, based on their response and the extent of it.

In the larger pic.  This is a small price to pay to keep Russia, behind the global problems in the Middle East.  Yes, Georgia will get a lot of diplomatic help, and some material help, but no real backing from the West that would lead to WW3.

Larger problems face the West right now.  Russia can become a bigger issue in the future, though unless they come up with some kind of disruptive technology or event, the technology and economic gap is so wide, that in the end it doesn't matter.

Russia will probably get its prize for now.  Though it may come to bite them in the future.

    FYI

Oil from Georgia to the US doesn't really matter, Russia sends more (please see the link below)  Georgia's Energy helps Europe.

  12. Sorry but that's a very immature suggestion. Britain and America won't get involved unless Georgia is on the brink of pure destruction and they wont use military forces as Russia is their source of Gas and Oil as much as Saudi Arabia. The west have enough to deal with as it is.

WW3 will not happen due to one war and a peacekeeping mission in Iraq.

  13. No it wont.  Iran/Israel&US is more likely to be starting WW3 than Russia/Georgia.

  14. Florida and alabama are coming to help

  15. I hope not.

  16. America and Britain won't get involved. Our occupation in Iraq and subsequent condemnation of Russia's invasion is hypocrisy, simple.

  17. I don't know.  But if they don't stop it could disrupt the peace in Iraq!

I heard Oregon is mobilizing their potheads to rescue those people, whoever they are.
