  1. Personally I was hoping that Bobby would have moved on...but its his decision.

As far as Petty merging with Boston Ventures, I say if it helps yea, go ahead.

-Roush has with Fenway and it has helped somewhat

-Michael Waltrip has with Robert Kaufmann & they are performing better this year than last year.

-Ray Evernham has with George Gillette & it has helped

-Richard Childress has done a similar move & helped as well

    So we'll see

  2. It sounds like a very good move to me. I would love to see Bobby running up front!

  3. Glad to see you questioning this as well! I'm one who listens as much to what isn't said as to what IS said...

I'm glad that Bobby is staying. That was a huge issue for me. He said the new partnership was what finally swayed his decision to stay for four more years plus "extension options" which I found VERY  interesting.

One of the reporters asked an interesting question based on their research that Boston Ventures has something of a history of jumping into something like this and then being gone in short order. The BV spokesman said "blah, blah, blah 5 years at least, blah..." which made me nervous.

And I'm having a hard time knowing that the new CEO of Petty Enterprises was a former CEO of Playboy magazine. THAT just does not compute for me.

  4. As awful as their equipment has been, I couldnt see them attracting a better driver, so yes, it probably is a good move.

  5. Boston Ventures is a "flip" company like people who buy houses, fix them up and sell them. They aren't in it for the long haul.

Petty needs management so they will be getting help with that right away. The changes that are going to be made are going to be focused on results within five years. Once the company is turned around it will be sold to the highest bidder.

This could be bad or good for the Pettys only time will tell.

  6. yes

  7. It will be more of the same old same old . No pressure on Bobby all he has to do is run in the top 30 and the think they are a success. Petty enterprises jus tisn't with it anymore. In fact the only reason the King won as much as he did is because he had the factory backing while the other guys were driving inferior cars.

  8. Hey Dave..

I think this is a good thing. Smart move on Bobby Labonte's part. I'd love to see him do  really good with Petty. I have a feeling that it will give Petty Enterprises the shot in the arm they needed. Bobby is a good driver. We shall see...!

    Have a great day all......Peace n Smiles :))

  9. The key word was venture capital which could go either way. I truly hope for the sake of Petty and NASCAR that it is not a Ginn Racing kind of partner.

  10. I did not read it but I will say yes since you used THREE exclamation marks.

    Something big must have happened.

  11. it definately can not hurt as bad as etty has been

next they will switch to toyota

  12. yup now he'll get to race with terry, didnt think of that did you?

  13. Yeah SuperDave I think it will, And any Merger will give them more money to operate on. It seemed like when Dodge first came back into N.A.S.C.A.R. they were supporting all

Mo par Drivers, then 5 years into it all they wanted was to be shown on TV.- so all the mo par engineers stayed with the winning teams in front of the camera's and let others go.

I still believe The king and his son can get the job done.

the Labonte's will make them some money, and Kyle can stay focused on the financial aspect. and money is what it is all about...like it or not.

  14. Lot's of money equals speed, I hope Bobby starts doing better, Kyle, he should hang it up, his heart's with the VJGC and he's not qualifying.
