How bad does a lip piercing hurt when you get it done?

i really want one, but I'm afraid of the pain.

i am a REALLY big wussy, and its amazing how afraid i get.

i am TERRIFIED of needles. i threw up 3 times before getting a shot.. yes I'm weird, but anyways i was SO scared i threw up 3 times and turned purple... so i really don't know, ive always wanted a lip piercing, but i don't think i can do it, I'm way too afraid and scared to have metal stabbed through my face, AHHH!!! please, please, please help.

Really, a lip piercing doesn't hurt any more than a shot! Besides that, they look really awesome, I say go for it!

My advice is just don't look at the needle... imagine something funny when getting pierced... and ask for a 16 gauge needle... those are pretty thin, but they hurt a fair bit less than the normal 14 gauge needle. And besides, you can just get a bigger stud once it's healed. That's if you're getting a stud... I wouldn't get a ring first up, as rings can get infected more easily. I'd wait until it heals to get a ring if you want one.

If you are that afraid then don't do it as simple as that....I have a phobia when it comes to needles and i decided to get over it because i wanted a tattoo i then went to donate blood and after that was done and i passed out a few times i realized as long as i don't see the needle and visualize on something else I will be fine.  I got my tattoo, it hurt like h**l, but i was fine because i never saw the needle.  You should try that if you can donate blood or get a shot without freaking out then you can go for the lip piercing just remember that if you freak out while they are doing the piercing you can really hurt yourself so think about this before going

im a wuss when it comes to pain too

i dont have my lip peirced but the best advice i can give you

is just breath and look up at the cealing because if you focus on the...um..lol the thing that peirces it sorry i forget what its called but anyways

if you focus on that then you will get so worked up and nervous that your nerves might take over and itll hurt

so just look up

breath

and also

just know its only for about 2-3 seconds

and then its DONNE!!

It wont hurt that much! and its over in seconds. I think you should get it done because you will be proud of yourself and it will help to combat your needle fears. Go for it! You could try getting some numbing cream or a numbing patch and put it on beforehand but and good peiercer will not recomend so dont tell them you have done it. Good luck :)

Well I imagine you will be admiring others piercings from afar - don't go ahead with it...

If you are serious perhaps you can be hypnotized that may work?

I totally feel you. i used to be terrified of needles myself but then i got a lip piercing and it didnt hurt at all. its like a small pinch. Just take a deep breathe right before the needle goes through and let it out when the needle is all the way through. It is really quick. Just make sure you get it professionally done so it doesnt get infected. Try asking for a ring rather than a stud too because rings provide more air to the piercing which results in faster healing time!

I doesnt hurt .. too much. Needles hurt more in my opinion. I know it sounds hard but relax and itll be over in seconds. The worst pain is that it aches and is hard to eat for a few days but thats all :) go for it! i HATE needles too but ive got a few piercings and would definately go back as the pain really isnt bad. good luck :)

If you are so terrified in the first place, I would advise not getting it done. I've had multiple piercings, and it's true that if you are nervous, or tense when you get it done it feels worse. The anticipation is the worst part.

I myself am also rather squeemish when it comes to things like that. When I got my first piercings, I was AMAZED at how I barely felt a pinch and then it was over with. No problems at all.

If you do end up getting it done, it most likely won't hurt much. And take my advice, if there's a mirror (in some places there is) don't watch them pierce you. And also, don't do this at home. Go to a proffessional, they'll make sure your experience is the least painful.

get it when you're drowsy from taking PM medicine and then go home and sleep lols

maybe put ice on ur lip first or something to make it numb, so you won't feel it as much.
