To be the 86th student out 189 students of your graduating class from high school?

I'm the 86th ranked student. I graduated from high school with a 3.058 GPA.

I graduated a year ago and is now going to a technical college only because I didn't take up Algebra and other college prep classes in math.

I hate math, and barely passed my math classes. I was taking all tech prep math course instead of the college prep math courses.

But, I took up everything else in college prep. Its just math that is keeping me from going to a University College. So, therefore I have to go to technical college to take up all the math college courses I've missed out in order to get to a University College.

Is it bad to be the 86th student out of 189 students. Is this part of the top 30% of the 189 students?

I also recieved a Life Scholarship over at technical college after just completed a summer term there. That was my first semester at technical college. And I onlt took up 2 classes.

  1. You are in the top 46% of your class. (86/189=45.502) This is math that you will need whether or not you go to college.

Bite the bullet and DO THE MATH! get extra help! Profs will help. The Study Center will help. get a tutor. Whatever it takes.

  2. wow all the kids in your class must have been really smart (including you) if you graduated 86th with a 3.05 GPA...i'd say thats pretty darn good

  3. U did hella better than i did i never even took college courses but i make a pretty good living at the young age of 20. I think being in the top 30 % is pretty d**n good

  4. You would be at about 45%, not 30%. You are about average. But I don't think anyone really looks at what number you are unless you were #1 or #2. Taking college classes and getting scholarships are both great accomplishments! You should be proud of yourself!

  5. This isn't so bad and all is not lost.  Take the courses at the technical college and complete the college prep math classes if you can.  Talk to your guidance counselor about that.

Then work to transfer into a university college if that's what you want to do.

  6. 89 / 186 = 48%... so you're in the top 48%. That means you're a LITTLE bit better than half. Not great, but not terrible, either. You decide. =)

  7. 86/189=.455

You're in the 46th percentile (not 30th) which isn't awful but also doesn't really make you stand out I'm afraid. If math is all that is holding you back, you should get some one on one tutoring. In college a 3.0 GPA isn't too bad (it's sometimes the GPA limit of staying in a major) but in high school it shows a lack of understanding.

Again, if math is your only problem now, you can definitely redeem yourself with some tutoring and hard work.

  8. don't worry about rank, it's all a bs thing that nobody really cares about. just look for the school that fits you best

  9. I don't think it's really bad.  At least you're at a 3.0.  I know people who are sitting at a 2.something.  Congrats on all your hard work.
