I need to know if this guitar: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibson-Les-Paul-Faded-Double-Cutaway-Electric-Guitar?sku=517512

is the same size as a les paul junior double cutaway. They look exactly the same, but I can't tell if the size is different.

  1. it should be the same size..

"junior" in terms of Gibson guitars just means they are cheaper/crappier ..and not that they are for little kids who are smaller

  2. I have to disagree with the other poster. "Junior" does not mean a cheaper/crappy guitar.  I have several Les Pauls of which one is a Junior.  With the P90 pickups, it provides a much different sound a biting single coil instead of a humbucker.  The gtr on the link is probably the same size as a Junior, it just has the cutaway instead of the rounded portion, so it may look smaller. thanks for posting the link - i may pick one up myself.

  3. Hey Andrew

I used to own two of these 1953 double cutaway Gibsons Les Paul Special and recorded with them. I broke the neck by accident on one of them and never forgave myself.

I paid $125 then, at a pawn shop. Now, the $2600 is the real deal and that is what my old 1953 would be worth today. The one you have the link to is almost an exact replica at 99%.

What you are buying is good. Don';t kid yourself. But the bite of those original 1953, and the sustain is out of this world.

You pay for what you get. The older the wood, the more money.

I now own a 1963 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top and evaluated between $12k and $22,000. I paid, believe it or not, $80 at the time because the guy needed money to but some drugs.

You might say I was lucky. Twice in a row ? Yup..

But, it boils down to the guitar player. The guitar sounds as good as you can play it.
