  1. I'd go with S&W

the gun and ammo were made for each other

Taurus website lists all the .500s as discontinued

    http://www.taurususa.com/products/produc...

  2. The muzzle brake on the S&W is very effective.   I definitely recommend it.

  3. no, I don't think it is.

I don't know if ANY were actually produced, I know they made an attempt and the model numbers were M500SS4 or SS6 or SS10 depending on a 4 or 6 or 10 inch barrel, but my understanding is while they made mockups, released pics of it and cataloged it as 'coming soon' the gun failed to hold up to the 500 SW round, and hence they never produced any to sell

  4. A better more useful, versatile choice is a 357 Magnum.* Yes you can still buy a Taurus Model 500 new for $934.00, it comes with a 10 inch barrel.* Even though it has been discontinued some dealers still have them in stock, I have seen both new and used in gun dealers stores in Pennsylvania.*~ Buy a good used one and save $$$$.* A new revolver doesn't shoot any better than a good used one.*~

  5. not sure about the taurus still being in production, but you could definately pick one up second hand. But personally i would go the S&W

  6. The Model 500 Raging bull was discontinued in 2007 due to lack of interest
