Question:

Is this guy just trying to cause me problems on Ebay?

He bought two items and then complained about the amount he bought them for. Then when he got them, he demanded a refund and sent the items back. I sent him a partial refund and explained to him why I would not give him a full refund.

Now he is saying that he never received the payment. I sent him a payment for the items instead of a because it was not going to be full refund.

I have the emails stating that I sent him the payment to his email which is what he said to do.

  1. This guy is trying to cause you problems, and since you used Paypal... that may be another issue. It just depends on how much this guy knows.  Even though you have sent him a partial refund, and he sent the items back.... he can still go on PP and file a dispute against you. When someone does this, PP takes that full amount of money away from you again. They like freeze it, and put it on hold until they do their investigation.  If the man does this, you need to immediately get on the phone and talk to someone in person. Tell them the story of everything that has happened, and the fact that you already gave the guy a refund.  This should be able to help you clear things up.

Unfortunately, we, as sellers have to deal with people like this guy, and believe me... you would rather of not sold the items than to go through all of this.  But Paypal does protect both buyer and seller, so make sure you do everything properly and you will be covered.

    Thanks for reading!

  2. Hi,

It was good of you to send a partial refund. Did you refund via PayPal? Did you send a cheque/postal order by recorded or registered post etc? If you have no tracking for the refund the guy is going to keep pressing for payment. You may have to "bite the bullet" & send the partial refund again via a "track enabled" transaction.
