It's called Vitakraft Hamster Food.

I have tried Nutriphase Gold, but it is very smelly. I want the best for my hammy, but I also don't want something that smells terrible. The reviews for Vitakraft say that it smells pretty good. Does anyone use this product? Is it good for the hamsters? Thanks!

  1. Buy seeds!  you can get seeds that don't smell, and hammies love them!

  2. Vitakraft is actually a very good quality food.   You may also try Kaytee brand.   They are also a good choice for small animals such as hamsters, gerbils, chinchillas, and ferrets.

  3. You can also get find food that is not so stinky.

The hamster probably won't care much one way or the other.

It's like for me, I might think that fine caviar is the best tasting food in the world.  But I've never had fine caviar, so I don't really know the difference.  So I'm perfectly happy with a grilled cheese sandwich.  But once you give me the fine caviar, I will no longer be satisfied by a simple grilled cheese.  You see where I'm going with this?

  4. Contrary to what some people are saying, none of these diets are particularly good. Especially Kaytee as someone suggested. Kaytee's foods all have an unhealthy preservative called ethoxyquin in them. A lot of these diets have far too many fattening seeds in them.

My recommendation would be Oxbow's Healthy Handfuls: http://www.oxbowhay.com/link.sp?page=Hea...

  5. what smells yuk to you smells great for your hamster and tastes even better
