Question:

Is this heat pad suitable for a hermit crab ten gallon tank?

its a 8 watt 6'' x 8''. will this heat the tank properly? should i put it under the tank or on the side?

  2. I think that it should work fine. You have to put it on the side because hermit crabs like to dig and if they dig down too deep the heat pad could burn them. Get some electrical tape to make sure that the pad doesn't come off. It might not look so nice but your crabs will stay nice and warm. You could get some plants to cover up the spot where you are placing the pad. Hope I helped!

  3. I use an ultraviolet light for my hermit crab, they say it's more effective. But if you really have to put on your heat pad (for the sake that you bought it) put it under, the heat will be distributed more efficiently that way.

    EDIT: put protective covering to avoid getting the crabs too hot.
