Is this horse suited for me?

Question

I know we're well suited in riding experience, but I want to know if I'm a good size for her, and vice versa.

She is an 8-year-old Thoroughbred mare who stands at 16 hh.

I've ridden her and liked her a lot, but I'd just like to know if I would be too tall or heavy for her, or too short or light. Anyway...

I am a 15-year-old girl who is 5'7'' and weighs 120 lbs.

You seem like two puzzle pieces that found each other...If you've gone through all of the other steps of purchasing a new horse...riding, vet check, history, checking papers and transfers, talking with her vet and her farrier...yes, these are important, it sounds like a wonderful combination, seriously.  Good luck!

Your physical stats are fine for her. She should have no problem having you on her back. You too are fairly tall and will compliment each other quite nicely. Go for her. It sounds like you guys have great chemistry.

I think you are a good size for her! You might not even grow out of her! Ask your trainer (if you have one) and see what he/she thinks! :)

Being 5 foot 7 I think you're fine with a 16 hh horse. But actually what matters is what is comfortable for you, and not how big you are. I have know really short people that rode nothing but large horses.

Me personally, I don't think any horse can be too big. But they can be too small. You guys sound like a good match (:

That would be just fine. If you have already ridden her, then you know you can control her. Your size is alright for her. It should be just fine.
