  1. I think she is a cutie, and totally a good size.  A 19 year old horse is what God intended novice riders to have. =)

Older horses have so much to share with unexperienced riders/owners.

I would have her vet checked though. They seem a little high on her price (for this area anyway) concidering her age and being blind in one eye. I would want to be sure she is sound for that price.

Good luck finding just the right horse!

  2. I read the add and the fact that she is blind in one eye worries me. Esp. if you are wanting to show. I rode a horse that was blind in one eye and he was great in HIS barn and HIS arena and HIS trails. Once he got outside of what he knew for sure, he got really spooky. I would be cautious.

To answer your question, I dont think you are to big. Good Luck in the horse search!

  3. You'd be fine

  4. Well, maybe think about a younger horse/pony.

I'm 5'3" and am small build. I ride a 10 hh horse and I'm an experienced rider. Think about a beginnerish horse and take lessons.

  5. Well, to me this would be a comfortable ride and she would fit you just fine! I'm the same height so lol I've asked a question like this before! lol

And dont worry about the age if you take good care of her she can live 50+ i saw a horse that was almost 60.

Hope this helps! YOu can e-mail me for any questions you have and i will help you to the best of my knowledge!

  6. I'm 5'7" and ride a 14.2ish hand horse, and we're both fine.

You'd definately be fine on the mare you're looking at.

But if I were you I would reconsider. She's 19, which is pretty old for a horse.

  7. no

  8. How tall are you? 'Cuz if your under 10' tall I think your ok. If your feet don't drag when your ride, the horse isn't too short for you. He is a stocky boy, he looks good.

I am 6' 235lbs and I ride a roping horse that is no taller than 14.2 with old shoes on(old shoes, cuz the feet have grown out).

  9. She should probley go to a person who just wants to ride maybe once a week and will just trail ride her. I don;t think she will be sutable for a rider who will eventually be moving up. I would also look for a slighly bigger horse.

A horse around 15.0 - 15.3 would be a good size.Around 8 - 13y/o would do you much better too. Not a 19y/o who probley only has about 4 years of food riding left in her...if even that.

I am also a little suspessious about why she si blind? If you are dead set on this horse then go for it...I would test ride her a few times before you even consider it though. 14.2hh is really cutting it close for a 5'5 rider...though I think you could manage. Again, I think a slightly bigger horse would do you much better...better to be safe than sorry :)

ADD: something more like this (though I don't know if you ride english or western)
