just look at the picture above....do you feel its right that two great batsmen who can be ranked among the best in the world be looking like they are not wanted anymore...do you think they should be forced to retire...

i think the selector should let them play and make them retire on their own not force them to retire...

what are your thoughts...

  1. absolutely ! They are the most astonishing cricketers in test cricket and the achievements they have done doesn't invite termination at all however they need to reveiw their own strengths and the cricket left in themselves and make a decision to call it quits at some point in time !

  2. Dear Bhejafry,

Your picture is a good one, and in the context of the selection policies it looks particularly poignant.

I look at great cricketers as solders who have fought for the pride of their nation. At one point in time they they have to hang their boots (as do everybody else) , but such occasions should always be treated with the dignity they deserve.

It is particularly sad for Sourav Ganguly, he has always been dropped when he was performing very well, a fact acknowledged and criticized by even the great Pakistani greats of yester-years. It is sad and shocking that his records were so completely ignored. From the 20-20 championships I was supporting KKR so I got to witness Gangulys sterling bowling performance. But you know selectors from every country can be a biased lot. My general impression is that Ganguly has been side-tracked for non-cricketing reasons, a point surely you would be able to further amplify.

If this is a an end it is a very sad one and I fully sympathize with you.

Nice photograph and a good question !

  3. I have to agree with you. They should come to the decision by themselves, not be forced. After all Dravid and Ganguly have done for India you would hate to see them being forced into retirement.

If they're holding the team down they'll come to terms with it and retire by themselves. Your exactly right.
