  1. No, it's much much more than that.  It involves your whole life and after life; everything about your life and after.

Without Christ you have no real life.  Life is in Christ.  Do you have a Bible?  Read John and I John.  Forgiveness is in I John 1:9.  Receiving Christ is in Rev. 3:20 and John 1:12, Eph. 2:8-10.  We all have sinned (Isa. 1:18, Romans 3:23).  Jesus died for you (John 3:15-end).

  2. One would need to add  "....for me"

But very few ever say such a thing, anyhow.

  3. Pretty much

  4. I think that is an aspect of religion/faith but by no means a defining factor.

I view it in the same way as you put faith in a relationship, I believe your correct when you say it is a human need.

What I find interesting is how human need is as essential too human life as is the need to function (Eat, sleep, breathe etc). You need to function for a purpose otherwise what is th purpose of functioning?

  5. No.

    True faith is true.

Evolution is false but the likes of Richard Dawkins have faith in it.

  6. Pretty much.  Religion is a crutch and a substitute for other addictions like alcohol, drugs, etc.

  7. A religious truth, spoken by Jesus Christ is, "But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgement for every careless word they have spoken." (Mat 12:36) I have faith in Jesus, I belong to Him and His truth comforts me, yet it is His warnings that show His words are truth. They make sinners like me tremble, think twice about what I say (or write), and seek His forgiveness when I fail.

False religion makes people feel secure in their own little comfort zone; true religion pushes us out of those, never to return, and directs us to the Holy God who alone can forgive our sin. It is only forgiveness of sin by God that comforts.

  8. Bingo with a side order of compulsion, deceit and brainwashing.

  9. I agree with Jed Slade. Its for the individual. Some idiot was on here yesterday saying that mediums cant prove they commune with departed spirits, so they must be faking it. Well you show me someone who has proved religion, and I will show you a liar. It is whatever the individual feels the need for. We all have different thresholds for how much evidence we need to believe one thing or another. Its your journey my friend!

  10. Religion is whatever works for you,if you need a spiritual crutch.

  11. The only true about religion is that is just one way to see the Universe.

Faith is needed to feel yourself in comunion with God. But is certainty what makes you feel completely part of the same Universe. That´s because there´s no way to stand against no doubt.

Spiritual way demands much more than the simple religious dogma.

"Keep your mind and heart searching the light"

  12. Pretty much.  And I'm a believer...

    EDIT:

You know what, Yamster, your FACE has too much punctuation!!!

  13. Sadly many people have that thought, they search for a religion that is comfortable.  This is not necessarily the true religion.  Jesus says that if anyone wanted to be his follower they would have to pick up their torture stake and follow him, this indicates that it's not always going to be easy.  If a religion follows the bible then they are going the right way toward pleasing God but not always themselves.

  14. That's bias. No one can say for sure which faith/religion is true. Really, if you look closely, they are all pretty similar, only the detail vary, and those aren't all that important.

  15. Hardly.

I would not enjoy being in a church that made me feel comfortable, for then I would know with certainty that the Minister is watering down the truth, or doesn't even speak it.

Learning the truth can often be unsettling, as it shows us exactly what we are, and how far short we come to being righteous.

But adherence to and conformity to the truth is needed.
