  1. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T GET A BIKE FROM A DEPARTMENT STORE AND DON'T GET ANY OF THE FOLLOWING BRANDS; SHWINN, HUFFY OR PROGEAR

  2. As long as you don't have high expectations for this bike, it should be alright. I wouldn't recommend riding on trails a lot with this bike. It is kind of heavy.

  3. It's been my experience that bikes you buy at places like Wal-Mart, K-Mart, sears, etc, are disposable.  Typically they are bikes that parents buy for kids who don't know or care about the value of an item...meaning they don't want to spend say $400 on a bike that the child is going to leave outside.

Check out the specs from Wal-Marts own site:

Aluminum hybrid frame with front suspension fork

Sturney Archer three-speed internal shifting system

    Promax alloy linear pull brakes

    Alloy wheels

Sturney Archer and Promax?? generic Alloy wheels? More than likely the bike really isn't a Schwinn...lots of companies have others make their bike and slap on stickers. Giant used to be one of the companies that supplied bikes to several manufactures before selling their own under the Giant brand.

    Bottom line:

If you don't plan on taking care of it...sure it's a good buy, otherwise, save your money and buy a real bike.  You can get a Specialized Sirrus for a few hundred more. That will come with Shimano components...

One more thing...if you buy from Wal-Mart or other places you will get a Small, medium or Large bike...generic.

If you go a a bike shop you will get fitted for the right bike for you.
