If i download songs from limewire for free. The thing is i downloaded 1 and i didn't see how to pay for it.

Downloading files you have not paid rigths for is illegal. It is hardly enforceable because if it would come to court, all you would have to prove is that you posses the original cd and the download is a backup,as allowed by the DMCA. Uploading music files you have not created is clearly illegal and has no loopholes, this is why people who have been sued for P2P have been mass uploaders.

It could be illegal.  All of limewire's files are free.  Some are copyrighted, some are not.  All the ones that are copyrighted are illegal to take from Limewire or anywhere else.  And most songs you'll find on there are copyrighted.
