you can listen to music, share music, and download music. It doesn't look like it's illegal... but i want to be sure because i want some songs that i can't get on itunes but i don't want to be downloading illegally.

So is downloading music from that website illegal?

If a website allows users to download songs to which it does not own the rights without paying, it's illegal. Not that you're likely to be caught and prosecuted, but if you're trying to do the right thing here, this isn't it.

The percentage of each sale which goes to the artists who created the music is zero when people get the music for free. Plus each free download is a potential sale that won't happen. While the occasional band gives away its work on purpose, most depend on the income from sales.

Yes, it is illegal, now if you want to download music illegally, do it the right way and download limewire.
