This just floored me.

If you have opinions, please don't rant. Say something concrete, don't parrot, please.

  1. For just one project I think that's very impressive.  Cool to see them focusing so much on renewable energy too.  And they even got funding from ExxonMobile!

  2. I honestly do not understand what is so impressive about that webpage.

  3. Very interesting WOW!

  4. It is impressive, but it is also spread out among 24 institutions.  I was surprised not to see my school included, since we were the ones that invented global warming.

  5. That's an impressive find!  (And I didn't think that was shocking at all because I've been saying that they're behind the scheme all along.)  That's why is ridiculous to say that people who reject the scheme are funded by Big Oil when the opposite is true.

    "Sponsors

    ExxonMobil

    General Electric

    Schlumberger

    Toyota"

  6. Why would we rant about this? We have tried to tell everyone time and time again that the AGW crowd was being overly critical about what these types of companies are doing to look for alternative fuel. And that they're also concerned about the enviroment. So why is this so shocking for you to discover? I also like the pie chart and how they are allocating the money.

  7. I am so shocked! Totally floored me!

  8. sorry amy, i think that's peanuts. can we have a figure for nuclear research for reference?

  9. I afraid I'm with littlerobbergirl on this one.

It's tremendous and great and necessary and many institutions have been doing this for years and I'm proud that institutions in the US are part of this, but...

It's a drop in the bucket compared to the tax breaks and subsidies provided to industry.

We need to be doing this on a scale 100  times greater, from a federal government level, on the scale of a Manhattan or Apollo project.

  10. What floored you? Maybe that Exxon Mobil is one of the biggest contributors to finding new sources of energy? They are in the energy business. They don't care where it comes from. They are just interested in making a profit.
