its soo insulting to put mariano rivera and trevor hoffman in the same sentence people are in love with the save category so since hoffman has the most saves it must make him the best no das like saying just because the titanic sold the most makes it the best movie no lets compare the stats

hoffman career era of2.79

mariano career era of 2.29

hoffman postseason era 3.46

mariano postseason era of 0.77

mariano is better then hoffman i dont anybody putting those two in the same sentence

plus mariano is one of the clutchest pitchers ever

he has bad luck the reason that little bloop hit blew the world sereis was because the infeild is in

hoffman is a great closer but not compared to the greatest of all time mariano rivera

i think mo is better than that other guy who shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as mariano, even though that other guy has more saves, its just a matter of time before mo catches him. Plus, mo has a much better post season ERA  than whats-his-name.

What's insulting him?  The fact that they're close in saves?  I don't think that's insulting Mariano at all.  Mariano has been a shoe-in for the hall of fame for a while, and just because this guy is having a decent season, doesn't mean that he's better at all.  The Padres are in last and the Yankees are running the table lately.  That's what matters most.
