Question:

Is this it for the Braves?

I am a lifelong Braves fan, and so this is has been the most frustrating season I have ever had to witness. We played so well against Florida, and we played well against the Phillies for the first game. Yesterday we had our worst loss of the season on a rare bullpen meltdown. The bullpen hasn't shined today either, and now we just lost Brian McCann to an injury. I don't know how long he's gone, but that puts the injuries we've had this year up to:

Brian McCann

Chipper Jones

Yunel Escobar (hasn't been himself since coming back from shoulder injury)

Jeff Francoeur (had a bad foot all season)

Mark Kotsay (still battling bad back...was on DL earlier)

Matt Diaz

Martin Prado

Omar Infante

John Smoltz (out for year)

Peter Moylan (out for year)

Mike Hampton (ironically is now one of the healthiest on the team, but was obviously on DL earlier...several times)

Manny Acosta

Jeff Bennett

Rafael Soriano

Mike Gonzalez (was on DL...back now)

Tom Glavine

So...is this it for my beloved Braves?

  1. i read many articles caliming my braveswould be world series champions this season, then the injury bug came around...

  2. I would think so.

You mustn't have been around in the mid and late 1980's because the Braves were worse then.

  3. Yes, they cannot make the playoffs. They have to rebuild and go another direction if this franchise wants to succeed. They had faced a tough year and any team that goes through injuries knows it is tough, but someone has to step up and lead this team. The Braves might get K-Rod if they are interested because K-Rod becomes a free agent and is asking for a large sum of money. They are no longer the Braves of the 90's. They have to make some really big changes in order to be a contender. They have to get someone who is less likely to get injured. Maybe next season but, you can't rebuild a team overnight it is going to take some time.

  4. There are too many games left to declare this the end. I believe at this time last year people thought the Rockies were not going to make the play offs. If the Phillies do not knock the Mets from first, I hope the Braves or Marlins can. So lets go Phillies, Braves, and Marlins!

  5. Yeah that's all she wrote for the Braves this season.  I've always had a lot of respect for the Braves organization and Bobby Cox.  As a Cubs fan though, I can honestly say that I feel no pain for you or any Braves fan.  You want to feel some heartache, try being a Cubs fan.

  6. Its not over yet!

Chipper will be back soon i think and i think McCann will survive.  Diaz is uneeded same with Acosta and Bennett.  Smoltz, Moylan the only two that are out for the rest of the year that hurts the braves.  I know they lost today but if they can get to within 5games of first by mid August and get Glavine back and Jones and McCann are healthy then id say they having a fighting shot.  As long as they dont trade Teixeira by then....

  7. as a mets fan, i say...BOOM that is the end of the line kiddo

  8. even thought i am a yankee fan i like the braves better than some teams but i think it over for ur "beloved" braves
