  1. Does your boss allow sick days?  If so, how many does he allow?  And did you take any of them yet?  Is it legal?  Heck, your employer can fire you indefinately.  If you were wrongly suspended, you can lower your quality and see how he likes it.

  2. Your boss is a jerk, but nothing illegal about it unless you can prove he is discriminating against you and for this to even work you would have to be the only female in the workplace, or because of your religion, etc...etc...  Sounds to me you may have done this before and your boss finally had enough.

  3. Yes it's legal.  Harsh, but legal.  They don't have to give you ANY hours, and can replace you if they want to.

  4. You'd have to look under the contract if you have one.  Contract being, employment handbook or papers.  They do have the right to keep you from work, but I do not know if there is any law they're breaking for doing so.  If they fire you, then that's a different story!

  5. Since you dont mention the size of the company it is difficult to give a complete answer. However here are basic guidelines. Sick days are not an automatic right of an employee. If you are working in an extremely small company then they are covered by a completely different set of rules than a company with more employees.

What is most important is no employer can treat you under a different set of rules than another in your same position. You do not mention what you do and if you are full time or part time. If your company has a handbook rules regarding time off for any reason including sick time should be covered. In most cases if you are not a contract employee an employer maintains the right to set scheduling, policy and disciplinary measures.

Without more information it is likely that your employer was within legal rights.

  6. Put your four days to good use.... oh, say, looking for a new job!

    Good luck!
