you record a song and you put it on a video

i was working on a windoes video maker and i thought it needed some music that i liked so i recorded a song on the camara put it in the computer and put it on the video then on youtube so is that bad?

i dont think its wrong.. maybe you can put credit for the artist of the song. im no expert, but thats what lots of people in youtube do.

To answer your question...YES anything is illegal to the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) but you wont get in trouble. Let youtube determine it it violates the rules...if it does it will be taken down over time.

You haven't said what the song you recorded was.  If it's a copyrighted song, even if you've bought the CD, it's still illegal to put it in a video unless you have a Synchronisation License.  I can't imagine anyone getting very upset about it though.

its illegal to use more than 30 seconds [ or 30% if its shorter than 3 minuets ]

however people breaking this law is very common. If you want to be a lawabiding citizen then you'll take it off, or you could leave it on and odds are not get caught.

That isn't illegal as long as you aren't charging people to view it or making any profit off of it.
