Is this legal: teenagers working for little pay?

My sister told me that many of her friends (all Hispanic) were working at an area where they picked blueberries for most of the day. The teenagers (ages range from 15 to 19) work there from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. picking the blueberries for money. The most cash they earned (from what I was told) was around eighty dollars...the least was twenty (for the entire day!). There seems to be no age limits in this place, and I'm worried for these teenagers. Is this legal? If not, what do I do? Where do I call?

In the US, it would probably be illegal. In India, the laws are much more lenient.

Why do you think you need to do anything at all.  if your sister doesn't want to do it tell she doesn't have to she can do all the paperwork and not have much left after uncle sam takes his share.. The little amount of money these kids will make are not going to bankrupt the economy..Some of these kids may need this money so they too can have fun.  You should applaud both the farmer for giving them the chance and the kids for having the initiative to do it.  leave it be

employers are required to take out taxes and Social Security

the employer is s******g  the workers, the system and you and me

call The Wage and Hour people........of course your friend won't admit to any of this if they are illegals

Call the Labor Board and voice your concerns. Even if the girls are legal what the employer is doing is illegal.

Picked blueberries when I was a kid.......made a heck of a lot less then $20 a day.......happy with that........no one has a gun to their head......mind your own business........of course its legal.
