Is this like stealing?

If you find something on the ground and take it.

My brother said that if you don't take it then someone else will and it is like finders keepers but I think that its a bit like stealing because you haven't paid for it, someone hasn't giving it to you and what if the person comes back looking for it.

We know that if it is something valuable then you should give it back to the person but what if it was something like $2 ?

  1. you should try to search for the owner of the money...if you failed in that then you can take them

  2. Well, if it is unclaimed, then you really have a few things to consider.

A wallet?  It had ID.  Return it to the person it belongs to with all the cash.

Return a bank card to the bank if it has no name on it.

Call the credit card company if you found someone's credit card.  The number should be on the card somewhere.

Personal belongings (jackets, hats) should be given to the "Lost and Found" at the establishment.

Jewelry of value can be turned into the police.

If no one can claim it, spare change can be donated or given to the take a penny leave a penny if it is a very small amount of cash.

But if you found $20, and then see someone searching a little while later for something, just be subtle and ask them what's up.  If they say they lost some money, wait for them to describe the amount SPECIFICALLY, and only then return it.

If you've made a reasonable effort to find the owner, you can keep it guilt free.

  3. Since you have put this question in 'Ramadan',i assume that you are a muslim.According to islam,if you find anything on the ground, you are suppose to find the person to whom it belongs. But since you have found money, and there is no chance of finding the oner, you are supposed to give the money to the poor or you should donate it.You should not leave the money where you have found it since you don't know who will find it.

  4. WELL WHAT DID YOU FIND?

If you found a whole two dollars, then buy some candy.

  5. anonymous persons answer is what u should do since thats in the Hadeeth:)

  6. its not stealing, but if ur feeling guilty put it towards a good charity if it helps you feel better

  7. Put it in a donation box :)

  8. put in Ur purse

  9. Obviously if it's a large amount you should give it back. Unless there is no way of finding out who it belongs to. In which case, you should be responsible and give it to a charity.

Same with a little amount like $2. Although you shouldn't just leave it there for someone selfish to come and steal it, you should take it and give it to someone less fortunate than you.

  10. it is not stealing, it is called all-uqtah اللقطة, its rule in Islam: you should ask about its owner if you was afraid it could get lost, otherwise you leave it where you found it, and who finds it he is not permitted to make use of it,,

  11. nah thats a little silly.. finding something on the ground, if you cant locate the actual owner, as he said.. someone else is going to take it anyway and you havent intentionally swiped it from someones purse, you just found it there. i dont think that equates with stealing at all

  12. It isn't stealing - you did not find it with the intention that you want to take it from someone else.

If you cannot find out who it belongs to pick it up. If you feel wrong doing it, give it to someone who you feel would really appreciate it, Charity for instance.

So sweet for you to think like that though, not many people like you around my dear :)

  13. The best thing to do is give to someone who is homeless or on the streets (: x

  14. According to Prophet's Mohamed (PBUH) hadith, the following is to be done:

If you found something, you have to keep it on hold for three days, doing your best to find its owner.

If in three days you didn't find the owner, you could keep it to yourself.

Note: one of the ways u can do to find the owner: publishing an announcement that you found something without mentioning it in the same place you found it in, ofcorse leave your contacts, if someone called you and asked then he shall describe it to own it

  15. I think its sweet that you'd ask this. Essentially its not stealing, but if it makes you feel bad then you shouldn't do it. x

  16. u cud leev it but then it'll probably get chucked in the bin. or stepped on (depending on how small the object is)

sure if its something expensive i wud try to finds its owner- but if its really cheap - i doubt whoever lost it is having an emotional breakdown or reporting it to the police.-

i dont really pick things up from the ground tho- ( u can never know where it came from!)
