I have three budgies right, two of them are bonded, but one of them cannot fly i think it must have had a problem when it was small, and the other one constantly makes hereself bleed and then waits till the woond is completely closed and starts bleeding herself again. Im thinking of giving them away, and getting a new female for my lonely male budgie, is that ok?

  1. Have you taken any of them to an avian vet?  You don't know why the one can't fly (unless its wings are clipped too short, in which case the flight feathers will eventually grow back), and the bleeding one obviously has some kind of problem.  You can't just give up on these birds; you got them, so you're committed to them, and if you ever actually have to give them up, how do you know you could handle getting another one?  Pets cost money to keep healthy.

  2. The budgie is doing this to herself? It sounds like she's self harming, you should really take her to a vet because infection could set in and she's obviously causing herself a lot of pain.

  3. As far as the one who can't fly, is that the only reason you want to get rid of her? Is there nothing else wrong? The other birds don't pick on her or anything?

As far as the one who makes herself bleed, I would say you are doing the right thing IF you are looking for someone who can help the poor bird stop picking at herself.

If you just want to get rid of them so you can get a "better" bird then that's just irresponsible, either keep them all or if it's too much trouble and you don't like having imperfect pets, you should probably get rid of all three. Or what will you do if you do get a new bird and it turns out that it has problems of some kind, too? Will you get rid of her, too, and try for a fourth, or are you willing to take responsibility for your own pets and love them even though they aren't perfect?

  4. i dont think so, because they are bonded, it might be a bad idea, the guy might be heart broken...

as for the one whick bleeds, how does she do it? does she pluck her feathers? if she does, is she the one who is not bonded whith the other? if so, she may be jealous. if not shes probaly stressed out for some reason.

to stop the plucking of feathers, go here (they might have cancelled that course though...  : http://www.birdtricks.com/

  5. before you give the female budgies, go to the vet first.

if it is sick, the vet would give some medicines.

it's ok if you give the female budgie away in a good condition, and you're very lucky to have such wonderful and weird pets!

  6. wow ok, emo bird much? well, i think you sould get her put down, because you don't want her in pain. if you have a lonely one, get him a female friend that is a baby, so they can bond from birth, and make sure she has her wings clipped so she can't fly so she's like him.
