Is this meat still Good?

I had some Chicken frozen and we lost power for about 13 hours. It is now re-frozen and I am wondering if I should throw everything out and start new or not??

If your chicken had defrosted and then you froze it again then throw it away! You CANNOT freeze uncooked meat or fish twice. If it defrosted and you COOKED it, then it's ok to re freeze it again.

You do not take chances with raw meat, fish and ice cream etc.

Things like bread and certain veg, frozen chips etc, I wouldn't worry to much about re freezing them.

If you didn't break the seal on your freezer ie: you didn't open it, whilst the power was off. Most things barring the top layer should stay frozen. It takes a long time to defrost a freezer this way. Baring in mind I'm talking about a chest freezer here. A small freezer compartment on your fridge is a different matter.

If you re froze your chicken..PLEASE throw it away.

The rule of thumb that I always go with when it comes to meat is...if there aren't buzzards circling overhead...I eat it.

if the frezzer didnt get really warm or fully thaw out the food its safe to eat

if food thawed out then throw it all out

if you didnt keep opening the freezer the cool air should of kept it somewhat frozen

well,I thing any food inside the freezer would take many hours to defrost.so i do not think the chicken completely defrost in 13 hours inside the freezer.

It takes about 6-8 hours to defrost in room temperature.

i think it is still ok

Yes your chicken is still good provided you left it in your freezer the whole time the power was out. It will be good for one month but after that it will turn bad. I would suggest to eat it as soon as possible. Freezing does not kill bacteria but just slows it down.

Also make sure you cook your chicken so it is well done or better yet, make a stew or soup out of it if you like........

Well yeah think of it this way you thawed frozen chicken and what else you dont use  you put back in the freezer
