  1. Jyuukujikun

    It means "special kanji readings."

  2. Yes, Japanese Kanji

  3. It's not a name, but yes it's written in Japanese Kanji, which are actually Chinese characters.

It's a word read "jukujikun", which means "special kanji readings".

It refers to the exceptions and special cases in pronunciation of the usually pretty regular and organized system of Kanji in Japanese, which are characters read for their meaning first before their sound.

    Cheers!

  4. It could be Japanese kanji, or it could be written using Chinese characters. Since it's a name, it could be either, but I'm tempted to say Chinese since I don't see any hiragana. Unless this is a last name, in which - again - it could be either.

Edit: It doesn't pull up anything as a Chinese name, but it does have its own entry in the Japanese Wikipedia, so it's Japanese. (Yet another example of me not knowing everything!)

Here's what I found on Wikipedia:

熟字訓 is written as じゅくじくん using hiragana, and is read as "jukujikun," and refers to when a word is pronounced completely independent of the way you pronounce its individual kanji.
