Is this news about the north pole true? missinformation?

heres a paist and copy of what i read:

"The potential landmark thaw - the first time in human history the pole would be ice-free - is a stark sign of global warming, according to an article Friday on the web site of the The Independent, a London newspaper."

ok is this really the first ime in human history? who was around 2000+ years ago to record the icyness of the north pole? i think this is a classic missinformation examle. what do you think?

  1. Yeah, that's true. The reason is because once the ice starts to melt it goes at an exponential rate. This year's ice is very thin, and once the water starts to open up, more heat will be attracted to the water, more will melt etc. It's a vicious cycle.

    Yes, this is the first time in human history. Some scientists say that, while the arctic has been warmer in the distant past, it has not been seasonally ice free for hundreds of thousands, if not for a couple of million years. The fact that nobody was around just a few decades ago to record the ice extent at the poles is a really weak argument. Climatologists can use evidence from ice, trees, soil, oceans, etc. to follow historical ice levels.

  3. for one, copy and paste. okay? for two, yeah, don't mind scientists, they're all just alarmists who for some reason don't want anything to do with anything good and fun.
