I have only been eating about 500 calories a day in order to lose weight. Since then I have passed out twice, I have blurred vision, I can't seem to have a bowel movement, and my skin is changing colors. Is this normal and/or safe for someone to do?

  1. If you want to lose weight that is not the way to do it. I think you answered your own question when you asked if this is safe, you passed out, you cant really see...does that sound safe?

If you are unhappy with your body try to eat healthy foods and you need at least 1500-2000 calories a day. Drink tons of water. And do some exercise too. (running, swimming, dancing, crunches, sit ups) whatever your comfortable doing. Its easier to do if you have someone working out or dieting with you, for motivation. But you have to eat more than you are now or you could become very sick.

Try and lose weight the healthy way.

    Good luck.

  2. are you even really asking if passing out and blurred wision and skin changing colors is normal. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! DUHHHH! Good lord you are the most uneducated idiot i have ever heard of. What a stupid person.

  3. of course its not normal. for im assuming your female, but i dont know you build but unless you are of very small build you should not be eating anything less than 1400-1500 cals a day. eat a high protein, high fat low carb diet. trust me it works. dont ditch carbs completely, have about 50-60 if you really are trying to lose fat. eventually when you start exercising you can increase this. but weight loss is not about eating the least calories you can, your body is far smarter and will think you starving and keep the fat on

  4. um, no that's bad. i would say increase it to maybe 700 a day. if the problem continues, go up to 900 or 1000

honestly, it's best you eat the normal amount a day you usually do, but just work more than that off. you'll gradually lose weight that way. and not ruin your health by starving yourself. not saying you are starving  yourself, just using an example. i.e. eat 1500 a day, work out enough to lose 1600

    somethin like that.

  5. All these symptoms that you are describing are simply because your body does NOT have enough food to function off of. 500 calories is not even enough for your organs to function properly. My nutritionist told me that a 100 lb. completely sedentary teenager needs at least 1200 calories a day just for their body to function properly. Before I start to sound like I'm lecturing you for not eating enough, I just want to say that I know where you're coming from. I struggled with an eating disorder for 2 years, and I'm just now starting to work on recovery. Trust me, it's not something that you want to get yourself into. Starving your body WILL make you lose weight, but the consequences of it are just not worth it. You will be constantly weak and tired, and those symptoms that you described will only get worse. Plus, at least for me, the more I ate less, the harder it was to get out of the habit of doing so. I highly suggest talking to a nutritionist and your primary care physician and tell them what you are experiencing. Aside from dealing with eating too little, they will be able to suggest a healthy diet and exercise plan to aid you in losing weight. If you lose weight the proper way, there is a much greater chance that you will not gain all the weight back once you have lost it. Now when I think about losing weight, I prefer to think of it as lifestyle changes, not as a diet. Those who go on these crazy fad diets often lose the weight with success at first, only to gain it all back once they stop dieting. So please, look into getting some professional advice. I know it's hard, but you'll be so happy you did it in the long run!

    Hope this helps :)
