like you shouldnt be contagious, just dont cough on anything .

It sounds like you need to see your doctor and have him/her see what's wrong, especially if you have having a hard time breathing.  Good luck and feel better soon.

Have you recently stopped smoking or had a chest cold? Does it hurt or is it difficult to breathe when you lie on your back long? I don't think it is normal to cough up phlegm everyday without a reason. I know when someone stops smoking or is working in an environment, like with coal or maybe recycling, where it's dusty then the person coughs a lot for a bit, but otherwise there should not be a reason for you to keep on coughing up phlegm. You should have something like that checked out
