Is this normal for Subway?

I went into Subway last week and it was normal lunch hour but no customers. While walking in all the employees said 'Welcome to Subway' - one by one (creepy). This is one of the larger ones with two counters/registers and usually there's a line almost out the door!

In fact, there were more people lined up at Carl's Jr. across the street - which never happens. What do you think?

Actually we have to say welcome to subway now. its suppose to happen at all subways.
