Is this normal for a cat?

You know how cats do that little pad thing when they're getting comfy..

Where they pad their aws over and over on the material/surface they're sitting on until it's comfortable enough for them..

Well my friends cat bites the material and holds it in his mouth while he does it, but my cat doesn't..

So were having a bet over whose cats "normal"

Any ideas?

Cheers guys.

  1. Both cats are normal. Cats really bites stuff like my cat...

  2. Both are normal. This behaviour derives instinctively from the time they were breastfeeding. while they breastfeed, they knead their mum like that to pump the milk out. As they grow old, they repeat this movement when they feel sweet, like with their mum. Some repeat it with the mouth too, like when they breastfeed, some only do the padding.

My cat usually does the padding only, but sometimes he lightly bites my skin or my clothes too.

  3. My cat does paw thing,

then he roles on his back and  sleeps with his paws up

  4. Normal cats don't bite it.

  5. most likely, both are normal (depending on ones definition of normal) it could be that your friends cat thinks its prey and it making it stay put.  i know my cat doesnt grab with his teeth... but i really don't know.

  6. lol the cats i have had only do what yours does, not what your friends does.

  7. Both cats are completely normal.

All 3 of my adult cats knead things (usually me!). My male drools while kneading on me, but neither of the females do.

Some cats will l**k things or suckle things while kneading, some with bite or chew.

It's all very normal, I assure you!

  8. Both are normal.  "Kneading" behavior is usually caused by kittens being taken away from their mother too soon before being weaned properly. That's the motion they use to get milk flowing from the mother and if taken too soon, they don't learn not to do it. It also comforts them. Some cats do it throughout their lives into old age.

  9. Mine might "nip" but he doesn't hold down.

  10. Your friends cat is neurotic.

    That's unusual.

    Your cat is normal.
