my horse has pink fur, or a couple of patches of his coat are pink, not sure on the correct names, but i guess u could say on all 4 of them, on the back of his hooves, there are pink spots on all four of them, is that common for a paint gelding?

  1. yeah, it just where the white is right?  and its thin, its the skin, light horses have pink skin.

  2. Its probably just where the white hairs are somewhat thin, and you see the skin. Im sure its nothing to worry about, if its been there a long while.

  3. yes thats normal. what you're seeing is the pink skin showing through the hair. when you see the pink, the hair is probably wet or short in those spots. its just like when you wet down a gray horse and they turn blue because their skin is a bluish gray color. dont worry, your horse is fine. =]

  4. you should get it checked by the vet.

If you can see the skin, it could be a skin condition (and it could be sunburnt! D:)

  5. I have seen lots of pink on the lower leg on really good horses with the best of care .Esp. just above the heel on white ,or paint horses.Pink is OK

  6. If the coat is white, then the skin will be pink underneath. Are the spots thick and crusty, if not a bit flaky? Because then it could be sunburn, which had happened to a cremello horse I rescued a while ago. I don't know how to treat sunburn exactly, but I'm sure a vet or horse expert could tell you.

    Hope this helps!

  7. That is normal. Now if you notice scabs and red instead of pink, then that means your horse has scratches, it is an infection caused by a type of fungus that can be treated with twice daily cleaning of the pasterns with Iodine shampoo.

    Hope this helped.

  8. Probable just the skin showing.

It could possible be a sunburn if the hair is thin there, but don't go and call the vet over to see your horse- that will cost you money that doesn't need to be spent. Jut ask your trainer or an experienced horse person if its a sunburn or something and see if there are creams etc. that you can use on it. If you need to, you can call the vet and ask about it, Im sure its fine though.

    Good luck=]
