Birds do not grey like people or dogs. Or at least none of my birds ever have.  Sorry not sure of that one.

Seeds are good.  You can try him on fruits & veggies.  Wash them really well first.  You can try, strawberries, apple, grapes, bananas, mellon, and so on.  Please no seeds...THEY ARE VERY TOXIC for your bird and will kill it.  Cucumber and grape seeds are ok, no apple or bigger pits like from peaches.  Okay?  Veggies are great too, cooked or raw.  Carrots, peas, green beans, kale, lettuce is good too, darker is better, like romane.  Too much at once can give them loose stool and thats not good.  Whatever he doesn't eat in a short time, of fresh food, I would take away so it doesn't spoil.  You can also try some chicken, cooked.  Rice is okay too, cooked.  I give, or try my parrots on any people food that is a healthy choice.  And if he doesn't want to try it, I would keep introducing it to him.  Because sometimes they have to warm up to the idea.  Ya know, something new, OH MY GOD.  Hee-hee.  Sometimes it just takes time for them to try something "new".  Oh you can try him on millet seed, for like a treat.  Pet stores carry it.

Yes do try him on some food toys too.  Just get him toys that are suitable for his bird size.

The only way to s*x a bird is to have his blood DNA tested.  If you ever take him to an Avian vet for anything you can have him tested.  My birds they just cut a toenail a little short till it bled and tested it.  There may be easier methods nowadays.  My two parrots were done like 8-10 yrs ago.

Good Luck in trying new things with your bird.  It'll be fun...For you and for him.  Check out bird info on the web.  I'm always learning new things and I've had birds most of my life.
