*** I posted this earlier but only got one answer. :( ***

I feel like I am getting the worst period of my life. I have a really bad back pain that does not go away in between contractions. The cramps in the front don't either.

I thought the pain was supposed to subside after the contraction? I am 37 weeks and have been having BH for the last two or three weeks, not intensifying or coming closer together. I woke up at 2 in excruciating pain, horrible contractions, lasted for about an hour, then the pain subsided and I went back to sleep. Still in a lot of pain right now though....

Is this early labor or am I just crampy? Anyone else experienced labor as just pain or are you supposed to be pain free between contractions?

  1. Unfortunately every woman and every labor is different so it would be hard to say what is going on with you.  Since your doctor knows your medical history as well as the details of your pregnancy, it may just be best to give your doctor's office a call and tell them what is going on.  Your doctor may want you to come to his/her office for a check or may want you to go to labor and delivery for a check.  Sometimes contractions can be continuously uncomfortable with worse pain during the actual contraction.  I wouldn't necessarily say in between contractions is pain-free, but it would be normal for the pain to lessen in intensity.

  2. If I were you I would defn call the doctor and tell them what is going on. My cramps always slowed down in between... Defn call a doctor!

  3. Sounds like your body is getting ready to go into labour.  This sounds like braxton hicks.  Especially if this is your first baby, you are more scared and nervous so it hightens the pain.  As long as you are not bleeding bright blood; everything sounds fine.  Listen to your body; if you are truely feeling as though something is wrong, i would suggest you go see your doctor for ease of mind.

    Good luck!

Enjoy every minute of your new baby; they grow up too fast.

  4. If they don't go away with comfort like lying on ya left side, drinking water, walking, back rub or shower (or however else you relive your pain) then its time to call the OB you could be in early labor

  5. Drink a glass or two of cold water and go lay down on your left side for an hour, if the pains do not stop then call your doctor.

  6. hmmm have you called your doctor, or even the maternity ward to get some advise. it could just be braxtin hicks but i dont overly know what they feel like i have never experienced them. but that sounds a little odd to me i would get the advice of a practitioner.

  7. Try lying on your left side for a bit, if the pain doesnt subside in an hour or so, call your Doc. Is this your first child? Any other pregnancy problems> Any history of premature delivery?  It all boils down to this, when it doubt-- get checked out, you and the baby are too important to take chances.  Call your doctor right now and see what they tell you. Good luck and congrats on the baby!

  8. you sound like you are in early labour you need them coming every 5 mins for 60secs so get someone to time them.  listen to your body if your worried  call the midwife she should be able to assess you.good luck x
