I am currently 26 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I seem to be lactating some clear stuff, but only on my left side. I noticed it a couple of days ago, but now I definitely know for sure I am lactating. Is it normal for me to be doing this already? I mean some woman say they don't have anything until AFTER the baby is born.

  1. that is colostrum.  it's your baby's first food!  I was confused by it too when I was 5 months pregnant with my first child.  My mom (a midwife) said it happens more often than most people know.  Your actual milk should come in 1-2 days after you give birth.

colostrum is similar in taste to amniotic fluid, so your baby doesn't reject its new food source, as it's used to the taste.  once it's used to suckling, it's less likely to reject the milk that comes out of the now familiar breast.

but, yeah, completely normal.  in fact, i'm pregnant with #4 (27 weeks) and this is the first time i've not had colostrum by this point.

  2. its totally normal, its your duct getting ready to be able to breast feed your baby!

don't worry and no, a lot of woman get milk before the baby is here... so, don't worry

  3. Very normal.  I believe I was 25 weeks when I started lactating every now and then.  It wasnt an constant thing until later in my pregnancy though.

  4. it is normal hun dont worry unless it is an odd color..dark yellow, green, ect.  otherwise..its very common for you to start lactating at that stage..i did at around 20 weeks myself.

  5. i started leaking at about 5 months- completely normal though to also not have anything until after birth

  6. just speak with your ob/gyn and they will be able to tell you what is going on. i don't think you have anything to worry about but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

  7. Perfectly normal.  My b*****s started leaking when i was only 16 weeks pregnant.

  8. Yes, this is totally normal. Some woman don't lactate until after the baby is born, but some start during pregnancy. Not to worry, if you're concerned...something to discuss at your next ob appt.

  9. Yes honey that is perfectly 'normal' your body is going to do so many 'unusual' things that I really hate the word 'normal' during pregnancy  but in this case I think you are just fine :^)
