Is this normal....????

I ran a full scan on my computer using F-PROT. And it found nothing. But then I clicked on scan report and in it shows all this stuff like "warning" (mostly) and "unscanable" next to either... "could not open file" (about 100) or "file is damaged" (only four) ...and then the location of the file.

Wtf? I also saw Panther in amongst this mess and i was suspicious and I googled it, it says it may be a worm /virus. Have you heard of it?..if it is, then why hasn't it been removed?

  1. That means that this anti-virus program identifies it as something only slightly harmfull but nothing large enough to wreck your computer.

    Try using this program

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/ (GREAT anti-virus)

    and

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/downl... (Spybot Search and Destroy is THE best anti-spyware program out)

They're both amazing programs and should remove everything unwanted.

  2. try another virus scanner and spyware scanner?

  3. Try using NOD 32 and then scan again. It has the capability to capture the worms as well.

    All the best

    Thank You

  4. I don't have personal experience with F-PROT, so I can't answer your specifics, but from any data I've seen F-PROT isn't very good. Thus, there may or may not be a problem. Try a free trial download of Kaspersky or NOD 32, run a full scan, and see what they come up with.

You can also search the virus database website Viruslist.com under the exact Panther filename that is coming up in your scan. A general search under "panther" comes up with at least fifteen possibilities. http://www.viruslist.com/en/find?search_...

    Hope this helps.

  5. ive never heard of that antivirus but i would recomend you use avira antivir free antivirus
