She does it sometimes when she sleeps, she will grunt and stretch her arms and grunt some more, she will sometimes do this the whole time she sleeps, i can tell she isn't sleeping good when she does it cause she is constantly moving. this is my first baby so i am just curious, thanks!

  1. My 8 week old daughter would moan and groan, constantly move, including in her sleep.  She was NEVER restful.  She had difficulty with bowel movements, and was constipated, so i thought that was why.  Her pediatrician told me to switch her from her soy formula (Isomil - which she was on due to a milk allergy) to Nutramigen.  He explained that many babies with a milk allergy or sensitivity will also have an allergy to soy (30%).  The parents think everything is fine because the baby no longer throws up or has bowel issues, but is still uncomfortable which is shown through the constant moving and groaning.

Just my insight with the experience we went through.

    Best of luck :)

  3. its totally normal! infants are scary! she should grow out of it in a month or so....

good luck and don't freak out....shes just being a baby!

  4. check her temp!! make sure she hasn't spiked a fever! not trying to freak u out but at 6 wks old my daughter wasn't breathing normal. she couldn't cry or anythink!! we called 911 and whe we got to the e/r, she had a fever of 102.6!! she had a uti (urinary tract infection) that night her fever spiked to 104.8... right b/4 she spiked the second time, she was grunting constantly and we thought it was so cute.. the nurse told me that usually right b/4 a newborn spikes a fever really high, they grunt!! i'm not trying to scare you only warn you!! also uti's are VERY common in newborn girls!! my daughter was in the hosp for 1 wk and had spinal taps, ultrasounds of her heart, kidney, bladder, etc. she also had 2 vcug done!! she was put on antib and was fine but at 5 mths old she had another uti.. wasn't near as bad b/c she was much older!!!  So please check her temp!! my dr told me if this would have happenen at night, we probably would have lost my baby girl b/c we would not have heard her breathing that way.. the fever is what made her not breathe correctly.. b/c it spikes soo fast w/ a uti!! good luck!! if she is not running fever i'd call her ped. and ask them about the grunting!! hope this helps!! good luck!! and congrats on baby girl too!! they are great!!

  5. some babies do this and its totally normal...some babies don't...hopefully she will out grow it in a month or so and start to sleep more sound...good luck with your babs!

  6. she may have breathing troubles. Or needs to burp.

  7. I would ask a doctor my son use to cry out when he was sucking a bottle and would stretch out his arms and legs and stiffen up his body so I asked the doctor cause it was my first baby to and he said he had acid reflux so they put him on medicine the also spit up alot. But they also tried changing his milk too before they told me it was that. So all you baby might need is a change of milk. Just make that appt and get her checked out.

  8. My daughter has done this since we brought her home. She grunts and snorts when she is going to sleep, while she is sleeping, and while she is waking up. It's crazy, the first few weeks I couldn't sleep at all. I worried all the time, now I realize she is just noisy. I have been around a lot of babies, but never one as noisy as mine is. lol

  9. Ha, I asked a very similar question to this one, when I noticed my daughter was doing the same thing.

I'm not sure "why" they do it, but my daughter did it and I know a lot of other babies do too. My daughter is almost 5 months now and she doesn't do that anymore.

  10. well baby's sometimes do that but maybe they r unconformable with clothes or its to hot or cold!!!!!!!!!

  11. maybe shes having breathing trouble its probably not serious might just be a nasal obstruction

  12. Normal.  Don't worry.

  13. My son did the same thing for about 2 months.  Totally normal, just a lil difficult to sleep next to!

  14. Aww enjoy it because it doesn't last long.  I loved when my daughter did the little man grunts.  I worried too!  But no worries, it will pass.  She may just be restless, or stretching or just grunting to make noise.  Congrats!
