my son is a week and a half old. The noises he makes when he is awake sound terrible. Like raspy high pitched wheezing sound. He does not do it when he is asleep or eating but when he gets excited or something. Is this normal sounds for a new baby to make? He breaths fine but it sounds bad

  1. He's just overexcited. just mention to doc I'm sure they will say he;s ok

  2. call your doctor, were no medical experts, beter to be safe than sorry

  3. He is fine.  According to my Ped. that is the norm with babies until around the age of 1.  I was concerned as well because my daughter did not do this when she was born and my son does.  He told be that he would be more concerned if he did not breath this way.

  4. i would have his adenoids(sp?) checked out. he might still have some congestion from birth...nothing to freak out about, but give your doc a call

  5. just wait till hes a lil older and if still does that bring him to the doctors to see whatsup

  6. sounds like he is just vocalizing! if its not there when eating or sleeping then it should be ok. babies aren't able to control the noises they make and so can make some pretty alarming ones from time to time! my son thinks he can talk in coughs!
