depends on you and why you want it to be so. in some cases, humiliation, punishment, that kind of thing you're talking about is 'normal' in the sense that it's consensually agreed to, non-lethal, etc. an outsider may be appalled at the behavior, but then you may be appalled at whatever the outsider may be in to.  it's called kink.
