Is this normal rat behaviour?

i have 2 male rats, 1 of them (emile) is probably the most dominant and is always pinning (remy) on the floor and power grooming him. but just before (remy) the submissive one, pinned (emile) on the floor and wouldnt let him get up. is it normal for him to do this

  1. Perfectly normal. Also don't be surprised if one rat gets a little too 'rough' with the submissive one, causing the submissive rat to play dead.


  2. Yup, thats normal. They are just asserting themselves thats all. And Remy most likely has had enough of Emile.

  5. Sure, your little guys are either establishing who is alpha (which can change), or just playing.  As long as there's no bloodshed or excessive squeaking, everything is fine.
