Question:

Is this normal when taking out bottom retainers? ?

Hi, I have the visible removable retainers with a wire in the front(called Hawley retainers)

So, when I take out my bottom retainers. The ends of the retainers kind of get "stuck" on my back teeth on both sides, so I would have to wiggle them out or pull them out forcefully. I feel like I'm either going to break the end of my retainers or scratch my teeth on the inside.

Is that normal?

Thanks.

  1. That happened to me for a while but it went away eventually

  2. its normal for your retainer to fit snug and tight. its not normal for your retainer to get stuck. if you think its scratching your teeth you are probably damaging your teeth as well as your retainer. go back to your ortho and see if they can give you a better fitting one.

  3. it's very normal . your retainer fits tight like it should. they wear out after awhile of this, then you just get a new one.
