Question:

Is this normal with new contacts?

I am wearing contacts for the first time. I am nearsighted and have astigmatism. This is day two of the contacts and my vision goes from being clear to blurry for a bit than back to clear. Is it because I am new to contacts and my eyes are adjusting or am I sadly unable to wear them? Other than that they feel fine.

  1. There are special contacts for astigmatism

    Check you have them

  2. You might need to use an extra re wetting cleanser for your contacts, not just the solution they soak in over night.  Also there are eye drops that can help keep your eyes seeing clear (that you can put in while wearing your contacts).

Like the person said above, look for contacts made for astigmatism - but I'm sure your eye doctor knew that when you got your prescription.

I'm also nearsighted and have astigmatism and toward the end of most days my sight gets a little blurry.  Glasses generally make my eyesight feel better.  Although, I probably need a new prescription myself.

  3. If you have them in correctly, you shouldn't be experiencing any blurry vision.  The only thing in getting used to contacts is that your eyes might be more tired than normal and might be dry at first.  Call your eye doctor.  Maybe you need to try a different brand of contacts.  Those might not fit your eyes properly.
