Question:

Is this not the biggest boxing joke, and fraud, of the past 20 years?

I feel Oscar De La Hoya is a joke, and one of the

biggest business frauds foisted upon boxing

fans, for the past 20 years.

It is already irritatingly unfair, that he is not just

handsome, but has remained handsome, despite

being in a sport that should spoil your looks FAST!!

It is already irritatingly unfair, that he has everything

a boxer could ever want, money, fame, a beautiful

wife, without ever have been subjected to a brutal

butt kicking, or serious sparking concussion that

would make one feel better that he at least paid

the price for his obscene success.

But Oscar is a huge joke, because it is

unfair for a man to lose 3 of his last 5

fights, yet still be ranked number 2 in the

light middleweight division!

It is unfair for him to lose 3 of his last 5 fights,

yet still be able to call the shots of who he

will fight, when he will fight, and how they will

fight. THAT'S A TOTAL JOKE.

I've ran out of space, so I will continue this

with additional detail

  1. hey pal, try to be in Oscar's shoes and how will you feel?

  2. i guess he just knows what he wants and knows what to do about it. i mean, he works extra effort outside the ring and i don't see any reason why other boxers can't do it too.

why can't mosley or forrest do what he does? because maybe they aren't suited for that kind of job or just happy being a boxer?

foreman sells grill while frazier did nothing.

i think it's just a matter of effort, life choice and passion

  3. it is his life so why do you care? why don't you just do something for yourself to be rich or something and not bitching out for something you don't have.

  4. It just shows what money and power can give a person. I like Oscar though. d**n good fighter in his prime.

  5. In the last few years, Oscar has not been at the top of his game, I personally think that he has too much outside interests going on and does not have that Hunger to fight anymore, but he has certainly earned his reputation as a Hall of Fame boxer, there have been others who may appear to be frauds, but I would not put De La Hoya on that list.

  6. You have a pretty large chip on your shoulder, don’t you?  Perhaps you would feel better if Oscar suffered a serious injury (or worse) in the ring. Would you by any chance be jealous?  Try to get over it, and don’t make the mistake of assuming that your opinions reflect those of everyone (or anyone) else out there.

So, Oscar lost three of his last five fights (he lost to Floyd Mayweather, Bernard Hopkins and Shane Mosley), yet he’s still ranked number two among light middleweights.  So what?  Mayweather and Mosley are both welterweights and Hopkins is now fighting as a super middleweight.  They’re not in the same weight class as Oscar is.   I’ll bet Butterbean would be ranked higher than Oscar in the heavyweight division, if Oscar was ranked at all.

You say Oscar can call the shots.  That’s because boxing is all about money.  He’s very popular with the fans and draws huge crowds to his fights (live and PPV).  That’s why he, not Mayweather, got the bigger chunk of the purse in their first fight; and that may also be the case in the rematch.  If anyone mentioned that Oscar was talking to one of the super welterweight titleholders about a fight, his ranking would probably jump from number two to number one in a heartbeat.  That’s boxing.  And don’t forget that Oscar is a promoter -- he’s the major shareholder in Golden Boy Promotions.  GBP owns “The Ring” magazine, so Oscar calls a LOT of shots.

Remember that Oscar was a super welterweight champion when he fought Floyd Mayweather.  He lost the fight and his title.  He dropped to number two in the rankings.  Where would you rank him?  How about number 47 (if you can count that high)?  Remember that Floyd is widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, and Hopkins has also been mentioned as the best P4P fighter. That’s an honor that belonged to Oscar a few years ago.  Then it went to Shane Mosley, who won two fights against Oscar.  So Oscar’s last four losses were to fighters who were P4P designates.  His other career loss was to Felix Trinidad, who was also regarded as one of the very best fighters in the world.  Oscar didn’t lose to any bums.

So, Oscar has never beaten a Hall-of-Famer.  Neither has Mayweather!  Oscar is arguably the best fighter Mayweather has ever faced, so why did Floyd get over $10 million for fighting a “bum” like Oscar?  If you look at the PPV proceeds, both fighters deserved every dime they got.  If everyone thought as poorly of Oscar as you do, there would have been no fight.

Stop the “financial fraud” c**p.  Who appointed YOU to decide what the entertainment value of Oscar’s recent fights was?  And don’t tell me, or millions of other fans, that “no one would watch Oscar’s fights with Mayweather and Hopkins over again unless forced.”  That about as dumb a statement I’ve ever heard.  Not only did millions of fans pay to watch those fights live and on PPV, but many of them watched them again on HBO, as did millions more who didn’t see the fights live or on PPV.  Some people even believe that the audience for Mayweather-De La Hoya II will be bigger than it was for the first fight.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but don’t try to speak for anyone but yourself.

  7. Oscar puts the fans to the table. You gives exciting fights, you get fans. You get fans, you get MONEY!!!

Oscar has lost by a small margin in all of his lost fights, except for the Hopkins fight.

He is the most popular man in boxing.  In my opinion, and the opinion of many, he beat Trinidad and Mosley in  their second fight. He was winning against Hopkins, but he faded and Hopkins took advantage of that.

He beat Julio Cesar Chavez, Whitaker, Trinidad. All of them are Hall of Famers.

    You are ******** STUP1D!!!

It sounds like you are jealous of Oscar De La.

He is one of the most exciting boxers, why do you think people want to see him fight?

He didn't make the fight against Mayweather boring, Mayweather did.  People are always BI-TCHING that the fight was boring, BLAME MAYWEATHER, he is the one who did all the running.

You sound STUP1D, saying that Oscar is a fraud.

  8. Oscar de la hoya beat Cesar Chavez but other then boxing he has done so much for the community taking kids off the street and training them to take there anger out in boxing he built a school and for his looks if your a good boxer or in his case a great boxer you dont take those blows that will destroy your face instantaneously how can you diss a fighter who has won so much and achieved so much in the boxing world and his only mistake was not retiring earlier

  9. he got caught posing in fishnets and a wig.  thats all i'm gonna say.

  10. he has more money than you i and your mother all have put together if i have to be a fraud to be that rich than so be it

  11. To me it sounds like your jealous of Oscar.  Just a thought.
