I have just bought 1 penguin tetra (that's all they had) 4 neon tetra (that's all they had in the shop) and 6 glowlight tetra's along with 2 albino cory cats and a bronze cory cat with 2 dwarf gourami (one male one female) in an 11.5 gallon tank. Is this ok?

  1. I don't think that is overcrowded. they are all little fish anyway... its not like they are each 10 inches long!

  2. You have a lot of fish! :D! That means the more fun, but at the same time you have to take care of the fishes. You either need to get another really big tank and put all the fish in there (16-20 galloned) or get two 11.5 gallon tanks and separate the fish there. Good luck with you new fish!

  3. little busy with that many

make sure you have places for them to hide, plants, rocks, etc

  4. Wow thats a lot of fish for a small tank, the norm is no more than 1 fish per gallon of water.

  5. that's 15 fish. wow i would not add anymore the tank can only keep its ph balance for soo long before it is overwhelmed by you know what.

  6. It sounds like your tank might be overcrowed.  I would seriously look at getting a larger tank, or at least another smaller one to move a few of the fish into.

  7. This should be ok as long as the cats don't pick on the tetras the tank is slightly over-crowded but as long as the fish don't fight your fine

  8. Return the penguin, it needs shoals of its own kind, when there's only one left it probably means the rest have died.

If you just bought all of those together and put them in a new tank (that is relatively small) expect water quality problems even an ammonia spike, im presuming you cycled the tank? If  not, not all those fish will survive a cycle especially that heavily stocked.

  9. fine , DO NOT GET ANY MORE FISH , i suggest you make lots of hiding places in the tank  and make sure you have good water quality.

the only thing is keep a look  at the neon tetra there could be a prob between them and the gourami.  but other then that a healthy tank
